About The Project

The HeartHeritageProject (HHP) is a youth organization dedicated to advocating for cardiovascular health. We spotlight personal stories, provide educational resources, and empower teens and families to advocate for heart health through storytelling, prevention, and community.

HHP was founded by Alex, a teen whose personal connection to cardiovascular health inspired them to build a platform where young people and families could share their stories, find resources, and feel less alone in their experiences. You can read more on the Meet the Founder page.

Our logo displays two blue DNA strands that form an H embedded in a heart, representing the connection between genetics and the prospect of having a healthy heart. The leaf on the side of the heart signifies the role the environment also plays in heart health outcomes; the red color scheme symbolizes health and prevention.

HHP is currently a student-led initiative and is not a registered nonprofit organization. We operate independently and are focused on awareness, education, and storytelling around youth cardiovascular health.

HHP is supported through voluntary donations from individuals who believe in our mission. We do not receive funding from hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, or advertisers. Every contribution goes directly toward growing our educational outreach.

While we collaborate with other organizations, the project is independently organized and youth-led, built on mentorship and community support. Our Resource Hub links to external organizations we respect, but those listings are not formal partnerships or endorsements.

No. HHP is an awareness and education platform, not a medical provider. Nothing on our site should be taken as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. We encourage anyone with health concerns to consult a licensed healthcare professional.

Who We Serve

HHP is designed for anyone passionate about spreading awareness and preventing heart disease, especially individuals with a family history of heart disease, those looking to make positive lifestyle changes, and healthcare professionals. Anyone can benefit from our videos, blogs, and curated resources.

We feature stories across a wide range—congenital heart defects (CHDs), arrhythmias, cardiomyopathy, acquired heart conditions, sudden cardiac arrest survival, and more. We believe every experience has value, and no condition is too rare or too common to be shared.

While HHP is youth-focused, adults—including parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals—are absolutely welcome to contribute stories, perspectives, and expertise that inspire and educate our community.

Sharing Your Story

We welcome teens and young adults who have experienced a heart condition, whether congenital, acquired, or genetic. Parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals are also invited to contribute perspectives that inspire and educate others.

Visit the Share Your Story page and fill out the submission form. We accept podcast-style audio conversations, video interviews, written blog posts, and creative submissions like art or poetry.

We may lightly edit submissions for clarity, length, or formatting while preserving your original voice and intent. We will always reach out before publishing to ensure you're comfortable with the final version.

Yes. If you'd prefer not to use your full name or any identifying information, we will work with you to share your story in a way that protects your privacy while still allowing your experience to reach and help others.
